Happy New Year!!!
Welcome my fellow readers (sadly, its just you sir) to a New Year. 2016 has come and thank the Al-Mighty it has gone. Although we can debate on whether it was one of the shittiest years in history, I prefer that we don't (*cough* any year between 1940-1945). So what are we gonna talk about. Well, I would just like to share with you two things. The first is the WITB Game of the Year 2016 and the other Games In My Sight 2017.Firstly, before you start hitting on me on that they are other games that are better, just to let you know, it's my blog and my preference. So, i would like to apologise if my taste differs from yours, but I wont. Moving on...
WITB Game of the Year 2016
I have chosen Black Orchestra. I have yet to do a review on it. That will be remedied in the coming weeks. I have only had this for a month and it is a joy to play. I know that some people might have an issue about killing Hitler (rolls eyes) but this cooperative game where you play as conspirators in World War II Germany is as thrilling as it is intense. Sometimes you are just one good roll from assassinating Hitler. Others, you are just an event card from loosing the game. The game is easy to teach and will constantly put you on edge.It is a pick up deliver game that I elated to grace my shelf.
Games In My Sight 2017
For the year to come, I have selected 3.
1. Rising Sun
The spiritual successor to Blood Rage. Blood Rage was a phenomenal game that came out in 2015. Sadly, I only got to play it this year. I like the viking theme in Blood Rage, but if there is a similar game to it with Japanese mythology. I am sold. Eric M. Lang is currently one of my favourite game designers and I will definitely get my hands on this when it comes out. Sadly not a lot has been shared from CMON and Eric M. Lang on this. Some say they are targeting a Gen Con 2017 release, but we'll wait and see.
2. This War of Mine
The second game on the list is a depressing, emotional roller coaster of a ride. Published by Awaken Realms, base on a hit computer game, this game was Kickstartered in 2016 and is planned to be rolled out in February 2017. A game whereby each action will lead to a consequence at the end of the game.
3. Rising 5 - Runes of Asteros
Another Kickstarter game from 2016. Estimated to be released in October 2017, this app assisted, cooperative game looks like its going to be a hidden gem. App assisted games such as XCOM and Mansion of Madness 2nd Edition are not new. But the cooperative aspect of this game is something I'm looking forward to. The puzzle solving element mixed with the beautiful artwork will definitely have a space on my game shelf.
Well that's all for now folks. Until my next entry, don't waste to much time on New Year resolutions and have an epic weekend. TTFN. Ta Ta For Now.
